What is chiropractic?
The nervous system is the master system of the body. It controls and coordinates everything. When there is interference of the nervous system, called a vertebral subluxation, which causes dis-ease. This dis-ease can eventually lead to illness. Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.
What is a subluxation?
A subluxation is an alteration of the biomechanical and physiological dynamics of connecting structures which can cause nervous system disturbances. To put it simply, it is an interference of nerve flow from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body and back to the brain. Otherwise known as a misalignment of the joint.
What does a chiropractor do?
Chiropractors apply a gentle and quick thrust to the subluxation/misalignment, called an adjustment, this restores nerve flow, joint motion, and reduce muscle tension.
What kinds of issues can a chiropractor help with?
A chiropractic adjustment can be beneficial with many things. Chiropractors are most widely known to help with neck and back pain but we can help with so much else. Including but not limited to: headaches, pregnancy issues, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, breathing difficulties, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, athletic injuries, non-athletic injuries, and spinal disc issues.
Common benefits of chiropractic include: increased movement, reduced muscle tension, increased digestive and immune function, improved sleep, improved posture, improved athletic performance, better positioning inutero for baby, and reduced stress.
Does an adjustment hurt?
Sometimes the adjustment will hurt for just a moment with immediate relief. Typically after the first adjustment, many people feel soreness similar to working out after a period of not doing anything active. However, this soreness will disappear after a few days.
How does chiropractic help children?
Chiropractic has many benefits for children. Starting from birth, kids can have issues with positioning or digestive issues and are also susceptible to falls, cuts, and other traumas, which can lead to nervous system problems. Many parents also indicate improved sleep, improved behavior, and improved immune function.
Children enjoy being adjusted. With infants, the child will lay on their mom or dad, and can be adjusted by hand or with an adjusting tool called an Activator. The Activator is a spring loaded mechanism that gives an even lighter adjustment.
How does chiropractic benefit during pregnancy?
As you know your body is undergoing many changes in pregnancy. One of the changes is with your pelvis and your sacrum. As your hips become wider to prepare for the birth, the ligaments in your pelvis are becoming loose which can lead to an unstable pelvis and back pain. Regular chiropractic visits during pregnancy can help the body better prepare for the birth process by making sure the pelvis, sacrum and uterus are in the correct position for mom and baby.
Do you take insurance?
We do not accept insurance due to the limitations on your care from the insurance companies. However, we will print out/email a receipt that you can send to your insurance company and they will send you any reimbursement directly or can apply it to you deductible. We have many payment options that will suit your specific needs.
We provide a whole body approach to chiropractic care. We evaluate what your body needs are that day and specify the adjustment to what we find and what is going on with you. This can include extremity and/or cranial adjusting along with spinal adjusting and muscle work on affected areas. Instead of charging your insurance for everything we do, you end up paying one flat rate.
How much do you charge?
Our consultation and examination ranges between $45 – $100 and each adjustment starts at $60. We do offer family prices and wellness membership plans as well.
Do you take x-rays?
We take X-Rays for patients that medically need them and we refer out for the X-Rays. Most patients improve much after the first couple adjustments but after the first 4-6 adjustments with no improvement, then we will proceed with imaging.
